Sheltering effect of punched steel plate sand fences for controlling blown sand hazards along the Golmud-Korla Railway: Field observation and numerical simulation studies

چکیده
Sand fences made of punched steel plate (PSP) have recently been applied to control wind-blown sand in desertified and Gobi areas due their strong wind resistance convenient situ construction. However, few studies assessed the protective effect PSP fences, especially through field observations. This study analyzes effects double-row on using observations a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation. The results showed that average windproof efficiencies first-row second-row were 79.8% 70.8%, respectively. Moreover, simulation behind 89.8% 81.1%, sand-resistance efficiency was 65.4%. deposition occurred close fence; however, there relatively little leeward side fence. length accumulation near obtained by basically consistent with observations, indicating combined can provide insight into complex over fences. indicates protection is sufficient for effective hazards associated extremely areas. output this work expected improve future application

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Optimal array of sand fences
Sand fences are widely applied to prevent soil erosion by wind in areas affected by desertification. Sand fences also provide a way to reduce the emission rate of dust particles, which is triggered mainly by the impacts of wind-blown sand grains onto the soil and affects the Earth's climate. Many different types of fence have been designed and their effects on the sediment transport dynamics st...

Wind-blown sand, or "saltation," is an important geological process, and the primary source of atmospheric mineral dust aerosols. Significant discrepancies exist between classical saltation theory and measurements. We show here that these discrepancies can be resolved by the inclusion of sand electrification in a physically based saltation model. Indeed, we find that electric forces enhance the...
متن کاملNumerical Solution of Fence Performance for Reduction of Sand Deposition on Railway Tracks
Movement of sand particles in nature creates many problems for humans. One of these problems is deposition of particles on rails that decrease the speed of the train or in some cases hampers the reversal of the train rails. In this paper the motion of sand particles over a railway track embankment, and how these particles settle on railway tracks are investigated. Moreover, the performance of di...
متن کاملElectrochemical and Dry Sand Impact Erosion Studies on Carbon Steel
This study investigated the dry and aqueous erosion of mild steel using electrochemical and dry sand impact techniques. In dry sand impact experiments, mild steel was eroded with 45 μm and 150 μm sand particles. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and micro-hardness techniques were used to elaborate the surface morphology of the eroded samples. The res...
